When I was A Youngster

When I was a youngster,
Fresh out of school.
Drainpipe trousers, frilly shirt,
I thought I was cool.

Listening to Caroline,
Broadcast from a ship,
Parked up in a lay bye,
We thought it was hip.

We only had three channels,
On black and white TV’s.
We’d never heard of Videos’,
Let alone DVD’s

The only entertainment,
We had in my day!
Was a transistor Radio,
And records to play.

Now  I’m not regretful,
Feeling sad or forlorn.
But young kids nowadays,
Don’t know they’ve been born.
