The Birthday Cake

I’m sixty today, can’t believe that it’s true,
From birth until now the times simply flew.
I married , had kids, bought a house of our own,
Worked most of my life, whilst my kids have all grown.
Now I’m ill and not working, I’m just scraping by,
With nothing to live for, just waiting to die.
On Wednesdays to Fridays I go to the* Brun,
Eat, Drink and talk and  sometimes have fun.
Now with my friends I can look to the light,
Their giving me guidance to do what is right.
With friends all around me, the right road I’ll take,
And to help me along they have made me this cake.

( Then helped me to eat it)

Thanks to Evelyn who baked it.

*The Brun is the Brunswick Baptist Church who run an open door.
